Simón is available for lessons either virtually or in person in Chicago. His studio in Uptown is equipped with timpani, marimba and most percussion instruments. Teaching Experience
Simón is Percussion Ensemble Director of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras and is on the faculty of the Percussion Scholarship Program of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The People’s Music School and is the percussion teacher of the Chicago Academy for the Arts.
Simón has more than 10 years of experience helping students of different levels. His students have been accepted to the country’s best percussion programs, summer festivals, youth orchestras, conservatories - including The Juilliard School, The Curtis Institute of Music, The Manhattan School of Music - and universities like Yale, Princeton, Stanford, among others.

Additionally, Simón has also reached many students as a Civic Fellow of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In this program, under the leadership of Yo-Yo Ma, he was a coach for the Youth in Music Festival. With the Civic, he also presented several education concerts through their partnerships with the Chicago Public Schools and with their Connect program, formerly known as MusicCorps. Simón has also taught at the New England Music Camp, the Sistema Ravinia and The Glencoe Academy of Music.
At the college level, he has given talks on audition preparation at places like the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, DePaul University, Orquesta Escuela Carlos Chavez and The Universidad de Antioquía, among others. He has vast audition taking experience and coaching high level students for auditions is one of his biggest passions. He also taught lessons and classes as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Miami and was a Graduate Assistant at DePaul University.
